Gau Seva · Cow Protection · Hebri

Sixty cows. Never tied, never sold.

In the green silence of the Agumbe rainforest, sixty Malenadu Gidda cows graze freely across fourteen acres. Your seva is what keeps them fed, healthy, and protected — for the whole of their lives.

The Malenadu Gidda

A small cow.
A big inheritance.

The Malenadu Gidda is the indigenous dwarf cow of the Western Ghats — short-legged, hardy, perfectly adapted to monsoon hills, and yielding A2 milk that has been treasured by Karnataka families for centuries.

She was nearly lost. As high-yield foreign breeds spread across India, the Gidda disappeared from village after village. Today, she survives in pockets — and at Hebri, she is at the very heart of what we do.

Every cow in our goshala is allowed to graze freely twice a day, eats Super Napier green grass from our own 1.5 acres, and lives out her natural life in the company of her herd. No tethering. No factory farming. No exception.

Someone is with them at five in the morning.

Before the rainforest wakes, the goshala is already moving — fresh Super Napier grass cut from our own fields, medicine measured by hand, every cow checked by her name. None of it pauses, in any season. Your seva is simply what keeps that morning going.

Meet Balaram

Hare Kṛṣṇa! I'm Balaram.

One of the little ones here at Hebri — and I love it with all my heart. I've never been tied and never will be; I just graze our fourteen green acres and fall asleep to the sound of the holy names. Your seva keeps all sixty of us fed, vet-cared, and safe — care for one of us, and you care for us all. Hover over a calf below — we jump when we're happy!

A Permanent Home

Help us build the
permanent goshala.

Today, our sixty cows shelter under blue and silver tarpaulins held up by bamboo and rope. It is functional. It is humble. It survives the monsoon — barely.

We are now building a proper, full-fledged goshala — concrete floors, tiled roofs, a small dairy, a calving shed, and a vet room. This is the next chapter at Hebri.

Gau Seva

A simple ask — help the cows winter well.

The goshala roof, the feed, the medicine, the hands that look after them at 5 a.m. Every contribution becomes a meal, a vet visit, a small act of protection.
